HEAT STRESS IMPROVEMENT

"Heat Stress" or the discomfort being experienced by employees in a grid casting operation can be a very costly factor, through reduced employee productivity.

Wirtz can develop a customized system for your existing casting facility that will show an appreciable improvement in energy savings as well as reducing the "Heat Stress" discomfort factor.

FURNACE

A full line of furnaces are available in gas, oil and electric heating that are designed to provide a maximum lead melting capability along with minimum heat loss. Automatic controls assure proper heat control without the loss from overheating. Venting hoods may be fabricated with insulation if desired.

FEEDLINES

Fully insulated electric heated feedlines with automatic temperature control decreases heat radiation by 90% compared to an atmospheric gas heated feedline.

Fully insulated gas heated feedlines are also available which provide a substantial reduction in heat radiation. (See Wirtz information bulletin L-7 "Low Dross Lead Delivery System")

DISPENSE VALVE

The use of the patented Wirtz dispense valve which accurately dispenses a pre-determined amount of lead to the ladle based on the required usage. This valve makes possible a dead head system eliminating the flow back of lead to the furnace and thus improving the heat loss and reducing the opportunity of dross build up in the system.

LADLE

Wirtz electrically heated ladles (with immersion heaters) shielded and either sheet or orifice pour maintain a uniform control of the lead temperature and offer a very significant heat loss reduction over the normal gas flame type heating.

Ladle hoods are provided which collect the heat from the dispense valve, ladle and mold and remove it from the immediate area.

ELECTRIC MOLD HEAT

Electric mold heat is available for most field installations which not only provides a superior type of heating to the open gas flame but provides opportunity for better mold temperature controls.

All or any of the above features can generally be utilized on existing installations to gain considerable "heat stress" improvement. It is recommended that when planning new installations the "heat stress" factor be taken into consideration in the machinery purchase as well as the casting room layout.

Wirtz technical knowledge is available to you for consultation and recommendations on your existing installations as well as new machinery requirements.
